Stories of games/consoles breaking.

My disc of Crash Team Racing that I've had since I was a kid might be damaged, because audio skips and Uka Uka gets stretched out when he's giving hints.

Also, the thing that keeps your disc in place when you put it in your PS1 fell off.

I am not happy right now.

Post stories of your old games/consoles breaking.

For systems, my GBA SP dropped into a toilet from my front pocket, my Vita developed battery issues, and my PS2 stopped reading discs. There's probably more but those stick out to me.

Lots of games stopped working, especially as I tended to buy used. I remember being really pissed Final Fantasy 8 was giving me **** on the second or third disc.

The one I'm still bitter about is my GBA Micro got broken during moving, especially since I'd only bought it a couple years prior and had to go out of town to the only GameStop that still had one.

Also really bummed that I damaged my NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams disc by not cleaning it correctly.

That's about all I have for stuff breaking. Now if you wanna talk about stuff getting lost...

The hinge on the battery cover to my GBC broke off years ago. Had to tape it shut.

I've also had two 360s, a PS3, and a PS4 all fail in internal ways.

It's not broken, but the little thumbstick cover on my PSP pops off all the time.

I'm on X360 #4 and PS3 #2. Both my NGPCs gave up the ghost years back. I'm missing a cable for my Commodore 64, rendering it inoperable, and one of my Odyssey2s is busted--------luckily I've got a backup, there.

One of my NES controllers has a janky B-button, and I've got one good N64 controller--------the rest have loose sticks. Also, I once accidentally dropped a two-liter bottle of soda directly onto a PS3 controller, smashing it to smithereens.

I've only ever had a GameCube go on me, but my sister dropped it down a flight of stairs when she slipped. The stairs were tiled. If it happened today I would have fixed it.

^Okily dokily!

I dropped a DS back in 2011 and now the hinges are shot. Still works though. Hinges are shot on my Lite, too.

In terms of things getting lost, I lost my cartridge for Pokemon Pearl and never figured out what happened to it. At least if that was going to happen it was during the worst gen :P

I had a lot of PS1 discs get scratched beyond use because I was a little **** who wouldn't take care of his belongings. I got stuck at the end of disc one of Final Fantasy VIII because it was scratched so bad that the game would softlock every time the Iguions attempted to use their special attack.

My GCN had some irritating sound issues with certain games. I suspect it had to do with the time it landed on the floor.

Yeah I don't have a ton of stories of breaking stuff outside of severely scratched discs. One of the weirder things to happen because of scratches is in Guitar Hero II having the fret board stretch out into eternity while the song never loads

As far as hardware goes, few problems outside of Switch controller drift and my brother's original model DS's hinges breaking down, both of which are very common. I had to finally clean and replace some stuff in my NES, but that thing survived nearly 35 years before I really had to touch that thing up.

Know plenty of people who went through like three or four 360's though. Same with slim PS2's (we had the massive brick PS2, which has survived to this day.)

My DS hinges broke forever ago and the cover on my 3DS control stick came partly off recently, which leaves a sticky knob. It's not great to use. Also had to send my Wii in to fix the disc drive at one point.

I don't think anything has suffered permanent damage other than those.

Oh yeah I forgot the circle pad on my 3DS broke. It was just the rubber part though so some superglue fixed it right up.

I don't even have that 3DS anymore so it slipped my mind.

I forgot that the right hinge on my DSLite broke. The top screen just flies open now. One of the shoulder buttons also doesn't work.

Scratched the hell out of the touch screen on my DSPhat playing Harvest Moon DS too.

99% of everything I ever owned still works and never broke. I always took care of them by dusting them off and making sure they never yellowed.

I replaced the batteries of any SNES cartridges that started showing signs of faulty memory.

The 1% was when my girlfriend accidentally broke my DS. Honest mistake. We were carrying a lot of stuff and rushing and it just fell from her arms and tumbled down the stairs. Cracked in two. It really wasn't that bad of a fall in retrospect but I think it had already been so old that a simple tumble cracked it.
