Re: What Are You Listening To?: Return of the Mack
Last thing I listened to was The Proclaimers----------'Sunshine on Leith', as performed not by The Proclaimers, but by The Proclaimers on tape, the Hibernian Football Club, and their fans after the Hibs won the Scottish Football Final in 2016. Evidently it's kind of their anthem.
I mean, I loved the song already, and it's just really nice to hear a multitude singing it, all teary-eyed with emotion.
[EDIT: I kind of want a Hibs scarf, now. I mean, I've never in my life cared about soccer, but the Hibs' weird connection to The Proclaimers makes me want to support the Hibs, much as the Red Sox' connection to Neil Diamond makes me hope Boston is destroyed by fire from the sky.
...scarves are cool.

Men at Work---------'Down Under'
I like the song a lot.
So, uhhhh, quick question-----didn't Colin Hay die like fifteen years ago? I seem to recall that. I remember hearing about it, and being bummed. And yet it doesn't appear to have actually happened. Apparently he's alive and well. Have I gone mental?

He's alive and well. In fact, 15 years ago would've been a bit of a career renaissance for him since his music was featured heavily in Garden State and he made a few cameo appearances on Scrubs

Yeah, I remember him on 'Scrubs', doing his chill bargain-basement one-man 'Overkill'. Part of why I was so bummed when I heard he died. I was like, '...he's alive, and he's so alive-looking, and there's a hospital right there! JD, Dr. Cox, save him!!!'

...it's one of the favouritests. Sometimes when you're feeling down you go to the favourites, even if they're the stupidest thing ever.

Re: What Are You Listening To?: Return of the Mack
i booted up SSX On Tour for old times sake but i havent actually played because i'm just listening to the soundtrack and damn there are some bangers here
Right now I'm listening to Red Flag by Billy Talent, I really dig the mix of the aggressive and catchy chorus with the almost melancholic tone of the verses.

Re: What Are You Listening To?: Return of the Mack
...I'm listening to 'The Touch', by Stan Bush.
What I want to be listening to is 'Dare', also by Stan Bush.
...please don't mistake me. 'The Touch' is competent, but it will never be 'Dare'. I've never understood why everyone likes 'The Touch' more. It mystifies me.
I also don't understand why people like the original 'GI JOE' theme better than the one from the 90s rebranding. Who cares. The one from the 90s slapped. They went nuts. I remember all the lyrics from the 90s one. I often don't remember the lyrics to theme songs. I couldn't recite the Ducktales theme or 'Suicide is Painless' with a gun to my head. Meanwhile I know 'Got to Get Tough' like it was written on the back of my hand. I remember 90s 'GI JOE's theme better because it was better.
(EDIT: The big reason I don't like 'The Touch' is because it doesn't kick people in he ass. It tells people they're fine. 'The Touch' can eat me. 'Dare' is the one that tells people to stop feeling fine and get better. People don't get As or gold medals or goddamned eagle badges if they're fine with being fine.

Re: What Are You Listening To?: Return of the Mack
Man alive----------less than a week after Thanksgiving, and I'm already sick of Christmas music.
I had to run to the store, and they played 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer' over the PA. I hate that thing. It's so annoying that it feels way longer than it is. Like, by the end, the instrumentation in the chorus makes it sound like the song itself is laughing at you. Picture a cruel child pointing at you and going "Hahaha! Hahaha! Hahaha! Hahaha!" forever-------that's 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer', for you. Ugh.

Recently downloaded "Kerosene" by Red Vox and I've been listening to that album a bit. I think Cemetery Window is my favorite:

Re: What Are You Listening To?: Return of the Mack
So part of working long hours is getting a song stuck in your head, and having that song be literally the only thing you can think of.
Yesterday, the earworm for me was "I'ms No Mans", c/o 'Metalocalypse'. The song is stupid as hell, but also beautiful, as is the accompanying music video. As is Skwisgar, for that matter. It's good. It's good music for pouring yourself into your stupid work.

Ariana Grande - 7 Rings
This song should be super cringey, but somehow it isn't.
