I saw something besides 1- or 4-packs of 1-ply for the first time in weeks recently.
Those senior-only hours at the start of the day pretty much doom any chance of being there when they restock.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Toilet Paper comes and goes in Winn Dixie. Worst case scenario I can go to another place nearby for some if I really need it.

I can't find disinfecting wipes for the life of me though. I have a theory that people that have never so much as washed their countertops before are now using a wipe every time they touch a surface in their house and screaming because there's "too few to a cylinder". I tried looking for them online to no luck, and I feel I could go to every supermarket in a ten mile radius of my house and find nothing there too.

The mother of somebody I went to high school with passed from COVID complications after a full ****ing month in the hospital. She was a respiratory therapist. The damage this thing can do to somebody's body is no joke.

^Not questioning that. I'm just out of Clorox wipes.

Apparently it might be a blood vessel disease.

I don't know what that would entail but it sounds bad.

Someone at my sister's job just tested positive. She's in a small office of 8 people. A silver lining of her husband having recently broken his leg is that my sister's only been in the office once since that person was exposed.

We have begun phase 2 reopening, or apparently step 1 of phase 2. The numbers have declined almost every day since mid-April. Includes restaurants, hotels, childcare, health screenings (e.g. mammograms), and funeral homes.
Competition is a good thing. It's a chance to crush people.

Seems like they're rushing this just because they're focused on the economy and to avoid passing another CARES Act into law.

Other states may be faster (or in few cases slower), but in MA at least, each phase is split into at least three weeks and can only advance to the next phase if the data shows continued to decline, which it has consistently. Now they're even splitting phases into multiple steps. We can't currently get to phase 4 without a vaccine, which we have no way of knowing whether it will even be possible to develop one, but best case is a year away. At the very least, I don't understand continuing to prevent people from seeking medical attention or burying their dead. If not now, when?

Hundreds of thousands of cancer diagnoses and hundreds of thousands more treatments have been missed. This has created a massive backlog for a disease where time is of the essence. And that's just one healthcare problem that has gone largely ignored. Basically shutting off the healthcare system for two months has created a nightmare scenario on the other side.

I'm currently planning to do something for my uncle at the end of July, as we were not allowed to do anything when he died and are still expecting it to take weeks to get past all the remaining hurdles.

The medical aspect is definitely a problem, I just don't think we need dine-in services already. I think allowing people to go to church and set-up funeral stuff with the proper precautions is fine, but I doubt nail salons need to even be on the radar.

Medical definitely. As far as church goes, you can worship from anywhere.

^Indeed. The Catholic Church literally suspended the Sunday Mass obligation until such time as it's safe to gather again; I've never heard of that happening for any reason. (My parish is doing video masses, & what would've been our picnic tomorrow is being turned into several virtual events.)

^^ True, but also including church. As long as attendees follow the example of the church that was burned down by a particularly angry Atheist (First Pentecostal Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi) it's fine.

Haven't been to church in a couple of years so at least this Sunday Jesus will understand for once.

We're starting with outdoor dining, with indoor having been moved to step 2 of phase 2. I guess we'll find out soon how safe outdoors is because these protests are peaking at 200,000 people (the goal is a million) and social distancing has been thrown completely out the window, though most are wearing masks or at least they have masks with them around their necks.

I don't think churchgoers should necessarily have to worship from anywhere taking into account technology constraints many people face, but the whole go to church and listen on the radio thing seemed like a reasonable compromise, for a time anyway.

I would like to politely point out that my post was in no way restrictive. You can worship from anywhere. That is, you do not have to do so at a church.

When i was in ocean city, no one was wearing a mask and they have a partial opening. All I could see everywhere I went was ignorance and reckless behavior. I'm all for having fun believe me but it was actually crazy to watch. It's like people think it's a big joke or a hoax. Wild.

5 of the 34 employees at my sister's office tested positive this week. 2 of those 34 are the owners, who have holed up in a ranch since March but still want everyone in the office even though the job can be done remotely.

My sister tested negative. She's not been in the office much since her husband broke his leg two weeks back.

God i really hope i never break one of my legs. I'd rather be shot in the shoulder then break a leg. Something about it seems so grotesque.
