Told you so.
Attempted putsch by fascists in the Capitol, incited by Trump. This has been building since before his inauguration. Somehow I doubt the folks here who disagreed with me back then will use this opportunity to reassess their skills of character evaluation. I'd like to imagine you're capable of humility, but I don't really know that you're up to the task. Chances are these days you're all wrapped up in a comfort blanket of conspiracy theories. Here's hoping you all know better than that somewhere, that there's a core of truth in your mind.
And yeah, this does come across as condescending. Shame about that.

Man, what happened to the police?
When there was a BLM protest, the cops practically spawned out of thin air Elder Scrolls style and made thousands of arrests. This day? They couldn't stop a jaywalker!

Re: Told you so.
I can't say I'm surprised. All signs pointed to this. Trump outright said he wouldn't accept the result of the election if he lost, and refused to peacefully transition power.

^Yeah. It definitely seems like Twitter was trying to preserve his account as evidence for an eventual court case, but they couldn't wait any longer once he actually started a coup attempt.

Sure it took about 5-6 years before they finally decided "Maybe we SHOULD ban white supremacists and the others flouting the rules." but hey, better late than never, right?

^They were banning other accounts sharing the exact same info, just not Herr Leader himself.

Re: Told you so.
This guy complaining that this is an echo chamber after a bunch of people in an echo chamber were persuaded with no evidence that the election was fraudulent and they should stage a coup.

^^If this place was really an echo chamber, this thread wouldn't have been posted here, 'cause there wouldn't be anyone it's addressed to here.

Re: Told you so.
...I don't call it an echo chamber when people with widely-distributed political stances are horrified at the thought of a sitting president who, far from refusing to concede the election, actually urges his supporters to storm the halls of power with guns.
I play devil's advocate around here a lot, but that's a ways away from actually defending the devil.

Re: Told you so.
Worse than that, this topic was obviously was not intended to create discussion, with a stated purpose of trying to be "condescending" and an OP who hasn't returned to the forums at all in the weeks since, let alone this specific topic.
I stand by my decision to lock AI's topic from 4 years ago. Not because of the content on its face. It was open for 2 months and 11 pages, and I ignored it until it became a problem because I knew better. But because I was tired of the bickering and repeated reported posts. I was tired of the drama even back then, and clearly people were not capable of having a civil discussion on the subject, which was unsurprising.
Unlike the people AI demands I ban, at least they make an effort to contribute. They may not always say things people like, but they don't just come by whenever they smell an opportunity to try to cause trouble.
I'd like to say I'm surprised that people would post a celebratory/gloating topic about this subject like it's somehow a good thing.

Competition is a good thing. It's a chance to crush people.
