For what it's worth, I find this Famitracker overlay much easier to comprehend than what you'd used in the past.

^That's interesting because this is the raw register data while what I usually show is the pattern editor (the main UI), I would think it would actually be less intuitive to understand. I guess the pitch meters are a better visualization for what you're hearing though.

For those who don't know, Donkey Kong Land's soundtrack was done by Graeme Norgate, who is perhaps most notable for co-composing the Killer Instinct soundtrack with Robin Beanland. A modified version of this song was also used in Blast Corps.
