(Orlando Business Journal) - Coca-Cola Co.'s new low carbohydrate soft drink, Coca-Cola C2, went on sale in Central Florida June 11.
The new drink is available in vending machines and retail outlets in 20-ounce plastic bottles and 12-ounce cans. Fountain sales are a few weeks away, says the Atlanta, Ga.-headquartered company.
An 8-ounce serving of the drink has 45 calories and 12 grams of carbohydrates, compared with 100 calories and 27 grams of carbohydrates in the original Coke. The new product has a distinctive label featuring black lettering instead of the traditional white on the familiar red background.
Coke has released four new cola products in the last two years, including Vanilla Coke, Diet Vanilla Coke, Diet Coke with lemon and Diet Coke with lime.
Competitor PepsiCo Inc. out of Purchase, N.Y., is not far behind. The company's new Edge soda, also a low-carb product, is expected to roll out next week.
Great, more gimmicks.
