I saw Charade a long time ago and remember liking it and I still enjoyed it now, unlike To Catch a Thief. It's funny because like you said Charade comes off as Hitchcockian and like a parody of Hitchcock, and meanwhile the actual Hitchcock movie was. . . meh.

I've seen part of To Catch a Thief because that was all I could sit though. Not bad... just really boring.

The Wrong Miss and John Henry are two absolute bottom of the barrel, dogs*** straight-to-Netflix movies. The only redeeming quality in either movie is the ridiculousness of seeing Ludacris with a silly-looking metal jaw in John Henry. Otherwise, avoid both at all costs.

Amy is a heartbreaking documentary about one of the finest musicians of 21st century. She deserved so much better. Some absolute gut punches when you see how some of the people in Winehouse's life steered her even further off track.

Ready or Not is a super fun horror comedy. Really neat self-aware horror/thriller that plays to its tropes well but isn't too self-aware.

Now that I've got regular access to cable, I'm catching a lot of movies in the background. Pain & Gain is upper-tier Bay with some fun turns from The Rock and Wahlberg, but it's not quite his best. The Accountant is the most TNT Knows Drama movie of all time. It's ridiculous and I love it. John Wick 2 is a perfect action film even when a good chunk of it is censored for cable. Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol is still such an insane movie. If I had to choose only one film franchise that would still produce sequels while everything else was eradicated, it would probably be Mission: Impossible. Those movies are so good.

Uncut Gems is still amazing. Now that it's on Netflix I've had several friends try to debate me and say that it's bad. They're wrong. It's a perfect thriller. I enjoyed the rewatch even more because I wasn't having a literal panic attack in the middle of the movie this time.

I've seen some good friends try to say that Da 5 Bloods is one of Spike Lee's best. I'm not ready to say that yet, but it's really damn good. It's kinda messy at points. It's a little too big for its britches sometimes. But that's some of the appeal of modern Spike Lee. He's always going for it, for better or for worse. This movie is mostly "for better." The entire cast is fantastic here as a group of Vietnam vets who come back for treasure they buried during the war (as well as the remains of their former commander), but Delroy Lindo has a particular intensity as a traumatized veteran that's absolutely magnetic. Easily the best film of the year so far.

Somehow I haven't seen Zodiac until now. It's close to a perfect film. Fincher doing a subject like the Zodiac killer is an absolute perfect fit, but the film's pace falls off a bit after the first hour and a half. The last hour just can't hold up to the impeccable first half, but the mood of the movie is still so damn good. Downey is just kind of doing his Downey shtick here, which works fine enough, but Gylenhaal and Ruffalo really shine. The Social Network is still my favorite Fincher, but this is damn close.

The new Eric Andre special has some really killer moments. It's rarely dull, but very little of it feels essential. Andre has such a wonderfully chaotic energy which leads to a lot of comedic genius, but I think this special proves he works best in heavily-edited, short doses like individual episodes of The Eric Andre Show.. Still, "You on the Dark Web? You on the subreddits?" is a joke I'll have in my head for a very long time.

Juice is a really solid hood movie that is elevated by Tupac Shakur's absolutely sinister, magnetic performance as Bishop. The movie would be rather forgettable without him here, but once Pac gets going, it's hard to look away. Really wish we got to see more of his acting prowess before he was taken from us.

89) The Lizzie McGuire Movie - D+. So much cringe. The opening credits were pretty good, though.

I guess I haven't thought to update my list in a while. I've given a few other movies a first viewing since The Platform.

13) I didn't know much about Parasite, but it still wasn't what I expected. In a good way. Until I noticed Hulu listed it as a comedy, I hadn't expected it to be funny at all. But it is funny, and original, and smart, and tragic. See it if you haven't.

14) I'd never actually seen Sleeping Beauty. I knew the gist of the story, so I was mostly soaking in the style. That chorus at the beginning seems kind of weird to me, but it's kinda neat to think of little kids watching back then being into it; happy to be whisked away into this fantastic romance. I lime the use of bold color in the animation. Maleficent is a cool character design.

15) Knives Out is a fun twist on a whodunit, with a great cast that seems to be really enjoying themselves.

It's been so dang long sincet I've watched 'Raising Arizona' that it feels brand new. It's got some fantastic sequences in it, man. I love the crazy chase scene in the middle, with the coppers and dogs and all. I love when Ed wallops Hi one in the car and his eyes go weird, and Ed's face is weird, too. I love the dumb idiot fight between Hi and Gale, like, when Hi rakes his knuckles acrost the stucco and screams, and Gale whiffs almost every punch (that's a real life-style fight for you------------people bumbling about like imbeciles). I love when Hi apologises to Leonard Smalls after grenading him. I love the weird dream sequences, and especially the talk (them Coens are great at writing monologue and dialogue in silly regional American accents, say that for them). And that weird little touch with everyone taking the Dr. Spock guide. And that little moment when Ev goes, 'He smiled at me!'-----it's sweet. And the 'okay then' thing. It's one of the best movies, man. It must be. There's a childlike innocence at work, here.

(EDIT: Gods below, but Ed's made of rough tough stuff. 'Gimme that baby, you warthog from hell!' She's dainty, and she takes on what might literally be a demon without a backwards glance. Baller. Heck, Hi's pretty tough, too, having at an actual nightmare with his bare hands.)

(EDIT2: Nathan Arizona occasionally steals the show. I love his crazy rants.)

(EDIT3: Hi's nightmare about Leonard Smalls is one of the best pieces of film-making I can think of. The production is perfect, and Nicolas Cage's delivery is pure dynamite. He sounds genuinely scared, man. That's hard to pull off.

16) Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is a lazy movie. I figure that in itself is part of a meta joke about the laziness of reboots, but that doesn't wholly justify it. Most of the jokes are callbacks to older films, and they already did a lot of that in Strike Back. The movie feels like catching back up with a friend who's still standing in front of the same Quick Stop after 13 years. Not that there's nothing to enjoy with that kind of thing.

Jason Mewes pulls off some more convincing wholesome sentiment than I knew he was capable of.

17) Guns Akimbo seems like a movie that could have landed somewhere between Scott Pilgrim and John Wick, but neither the comedy nor the action is very good. Also I was constantly distracted by Daniel Radcliffe's accent.

My road to 90 movies is a lot of comfort food as I rewatched the LotR trilogy with my mom and sister, then caught a cable marathon of the first few Fast films (I turned Fast and Furious 2009 off in favor of wrestling because it's the boring one). Also I watched Hercules at dinner last night. I don't have anything particularly exciting to say about any of those movies.

So let's talk about Money Plane, one of the biggest disappointments of the year. When I saw the trailer, I could hardly contain my excitement. Here's a movie starring the Rated R Superstar Edge, a hammy Kelsey Grammer, Denise Richards and the Lawrence Brothers (directed by Andrew!). It's called Money Plane for God's sake, and it's about a heist of an illegal criminal gambling ring that takes place on a plane called The Money Plane. That should rule!

And Kelsey Grammer is delightful in this movie. I only expected him for a few minutes, but he makes the best of it (he's mostly sitting down for the movie which is always an all-time "famous actor hamming it up for a paycheck" move). Matthew Lawrence has the best non-Grammer performance as some kind of weird criminal cowboy who never loses his bets.

After that, it gets really boring. Edge sucks as a leading man. A lot of his wrestling career he did have a good intensity to him, but he was usually at his best when he could let loose a little. As "Generic Action Man Who's In It For One Last Job Before He Retires So He Can Be With His Family," none of that charm is there. The rest of the cast is similarly bland, and the action sequences have very little going for them.

I'd say the movie is still worth it for the five minutes of Kelsey Grammer that are strewn throughout the movie. Lawrence is at least capable enough to recognize that he should stretch those few minutes throughout the movie instead of just having a scene at the beginning and end.

Overall, it's just a disappointment. The title and general premise and casting you know they're self-aware enough to know they've got something here, but it just falls flat.

18) I loved Palm Springs. I highly recommend it, so long as Andy Samberg works for you at all. Try not to read the premise before you watch it. I went in without knowing, and it makes the beginning wonderfully confusing.

So I'm out in Dakota visitimg the fam. Going to get caught up on my children's movies, I suspect. First on the docket was 'Scoob!' I didn't like it very much. I mean, the first fifteen minutes or so, with Shaggy and Scooby meeting for the first time, and Mystery Inc coming together, that was all gold. But the movie takes a hard drop in quality after that.

19) I expected Swiss Army Man to be weird and that's why I watched it. I didn't expect it to have this mostly serious, "Everybody Poops," message about shame, fear, and human connection. It's a really bizarre thing to juxtapose with a magical utility cadaver. The reactions of everyone in the last scene are pretty much how I felt about the movie.

^Daniel Radcliffe picks the weirdest freaking roles in the world, & they fit him like a glove. He's actually a pretty solid fan-favorite for Moon Knight.

So, whilst out in Dakota, I also saw 'Sonic', 'Ice Age 3', 'Trolls 2', 'Frozen 2', 'Secret World of Pets 2' and 'Rock Dog'. 'Sonic' was good, and 'Frozen 2' was okay (still better than the first one)----------the rest stank like rotting poultry.

I requited myself by cruelly forcing the kids to watch 'Snow White', 'Jungle Book', 'Cinderella', 'Robin Hood', 'Three Caballeros', 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Princess and the Frog' and 'Oliver and Company'. Also lots and lots of Silly Symphonies and Goofy Sports. Because I'm an evil man who delights in making children miserable.

So we tried watching 'Knives Out', and we didn't like it. It was so dingdong dull we couldn't get through. Gods below, man. We were expecting sort of 'Clue' times 'Lion in Winter', and that's what we got, more or less, but the garbagey wank version of that. Not fun.

'Knives Out' is on Prime right next to 'Clue'. We switched over to 'Clue' and had a much better time.

'Clue' is whip-smart and fun.

96) Holidaze - D-. There were like 2 good gags in between some of the laziest claymation & narration I've ever seen.
97) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) - B+

Clue has been on my list. Maybe I'll check it out tonight.

Edit: I did watch tonight. I enjoy Tim Curry so much.

^'Clue' is an absolute laugh riot, man. I love that dang thing.

21) Free Solo is an interesting watch. Mostly I spent my time trying to decide what I think about Alex, his worldview, and if Sanni is a fool to be with someone like him.
