My mom's name was Rhonda, which is apparently Welsh for "good spear".

Well, it's a French name, really, but it's derived from the Hebrew. Jeannette is the diminutive form of Jeanne, which is the feminine form of Jean, which is the French form of John, which is the English form of Ioannen, which is the Greek form of Iochanan, which is a Hebrew word meaning God is gracious.

You weren't wrong, I just think it's a lot more interesting when you explore the etymology a bit deeper.

Btw, my mom's name is Cynthia, which just means "Woman from Cynthus" which is a Greek island. Kinda funny that my Mom is the one with the Greek name, but my Dad is the one of Greek descent.

My mother was a pile of coins. I don't think she really had a name. Or a gender. And she wasn't much for mothering. Dad wasn't really around, either, he was way into his work up in the mountains.
I muttered 'light as a board, stiff as a feather' for 2 days straight and now I've ascended, ;aughing at olympus and zeus is crying

Oliver is a strong name. Name to set your watch and warrant by. Not just some made-up horsesh*t like lot of kids get saddled with these days. Oliver. Yeah. Good on you, giving your boy a real name.
