ESSDEE and I are terrible at shopping... Last Friday, we go in to get a few things, and come out with various cat scratching posts, cat toys, pillows and a trolley of food. And all because we forgot our shopping list. Bah!! :D

good. gryffindor needs to stop winning by virtue of favoritism and all of the protagonists getting sorted into that house.

^Find yourself a store with a third-shift stocking crew. Most third-shift stockers are huge gangle-limbed morlocks; all of them are willing to help a customer reach things that are high up at the back of a shelf, and especially if it nets them some overtime. Overtime is a hell of a carrot to being nice with real human customers, man.

I mean the store I go to the most the stockers are p.much always helpful. The store that's closest to me though...worst customer service I've ever had at a supermarket. Repeatedly.

Don't go to stores with bad customer service, if you can avoid it.

Why ever subsidise laziness and evil. Like, even if you have to go a couple blocks out your way, isn't it worth it to get a positive experience, dude.

Absolutely. The store I go to is on the other side of town, but it's only about 12 minutes. Worth. It.

The store I used to go to responded to me right away when I complained and told me they removed the self checkouts because people asked for better customer service. Huh? Let me do my own thing, and I'll ask if I need help. I can scan my own groceries.
Competition is a good thing. It's a chance to crush people.

I like self-checkouts, when I'm using them.

Watching the uninitiated try to use them is excruciating. You see these knuckleheads stare at the simple instructions on the touch-screen in complete bafflement, as though they're looking at the Voynich Manuscript or something, and you can feel your faith in humanity slowly oozing away.
