Do you know how to use them?

Does stabbing food with them count as using them?

I live with someone who'd rather eat certain foods with chopsticks.

So I learned from her.

No, but I'm pretty confident with bridges nowadays. Baby steps.

When I lived in Korea, I got compliments on my chopstick skills all the time. I'd say that's the best indication that I know how to use them.

I have never been in a situation where using them was necessary.

Question #2: of those of you who can use chopsticks, how often do you actually do so?

I like my eating to be as labor-free as possible, so I only use chopsticks if there aren't any clean forks for me to use. Or if I'm eating sushi. Eating sushi with anything but chopsticks is strictly haram.

Usually only at restaurants that have them. We go to a few regularly.

At least once a day, but I've been lazy and have been using a spoon or a fork to eat lately.

Although if I go out to eat, I will take chopsticks over a spoon or a fork--unless I'm also having soup, in which case I would use a spoon in addition to the chopsticks.

Of course I know how. They taught us in Japanese class back in middle school. (Clearly important to any study of the Japanese language.)

It's my own personal choice if I prefer to go fork-knife-spoon instead of chopsticks, or decide to just upend bowls of boiling ramen over my head, or drag my face through troughs of porridge, or chase down animals by the light of the silvery moon and rend them to bits with my bare hands, bolting down lumps of raw flesh whilst screaming triumphantly at the sky. Don't oppress me, man. Don't hate. It's mean. Stop being mean.
