Kirk and Picard are my faves. I think I like Kirk at his best better than Picard at his best.

I love 'Arena'. Kirk is so great in it. It's just...one of the best episodes of anything ever, and Kirk is a huge part of that.

I have only as much knowledge of the original cast's work as general pop culture will teach you, and basically nothing about Archer and Lorca. With that caveat, I'm going Picard. I like the wisdom and idealism that he brings to problems.

I've only seen TOS and The Next Generation, so I don't know much about the other captains. But Picard comes off as an actual, responsible captain while Kirk is more the TV movie hero who doesn't play by the rules and punches his way out.

Yeah, have to go with Picard. Love Kirk, but Picard is much more respectable and disciplined.
