Character of the Month #96: Magnitude

Post by CaptHayfever » Thu Jan 09, 2020 1:37 am

Source series: Castlevania
First appearance: Rondo of Blood (1993)

Versus - #35
Classic - #7 in Link's line (accessible by Link, K. Rool, Ice Climbers, Simon, Meta Knight, Snake, & Young Link)
Adventure - Dracula's Castle in the Dark Realm

Weight class - Heavy
Falling class - Very fast
Running speed - Slow
Jump height - Low
Character class - Swordsman/Gunner

B - Axe (source: Castlevania)
Side B - Cross (source: Castlevania)
Up B - Uppercut (source: Symphony of the Night)
Down B - Holy Water (source: Castlevania)
Final Smash - Grand Cross (source: Rondo of Night)

Dracula's Castle

Up - "It's time!"
Side - Armspan measure
Down - "Prepare yourself!"

--A descendant of Simon Belmont, but it isn't known for sure by how many generations.
--Functionally identical to Simon with one major exception; his Holy Water does aura damage instead of fire damage.
--One of his victory poses has him informing his opponents that they don't belong in this world.
--The Richter scale for measuring earthquakes is calculated by taking the common log of the quotient of the amplitude of the shockwave divided by the amplitude function of the distance to the measuring station.

So begins "November."
If custom moves were still in the game, I guarantee that Richter wouldn't be a separate character.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I just wanna go on record as saying that I actually predicted a long ago that Richter would be an alt for Simon, as well as the Belmonts' moveset being a combination of Simon and Richter's moves. The only thing I got wrong is that Richter is *technically* a separate character.

I could tell by his reveal trailer and his little character trailer that the team really really liked Richter and wanted to add him in. Gotta respect that, especially since he's such a boss in his original two games. Something something water hurricane.
