First opportunity I'll get is the evening/night tomorrow. I'll play at least some of it on Twitch so I can call the exact second to start the match via chat

Yeah, I'm late to the party but I just tried this out on my friend's Switch! Got a win + an Invictus win after a few hours though IDK yet how this game works compared to other tetris games (idk how my skills from past games apply, and I've gotten rusty...)

I don't even know what setting Attackers/Badges/whatever does or how the garbage countering system exactly works, but you have multiple pieces (and a *lot* of time), and can stall it with line clears more than other games I've played, so my initial impression is this game favors defense over aggression compared to other games, and it seems like there's strategy to knowing when you *want* to take garbage from opponents (free lines to clear, and free damage) versus countering it.

I don't dislike T-spin triples (compared to this rotation system's bigger flaws in single-player), though it might be a intermediate-level mistake to over-value them. T-spin doubles are good because they're easier to improvise and leave your playfield cleaner than T-spin singles and triples. All T-spins start/preserve a back-to-back chain, which is +1 garbage for Tetrises / T-spins. T-spin doubles allow you more often to follow up with tetrises, but doing a T-spin triple will often result in losing your BTB chain. (Also, "mini T-spin singles" still work lol, which most players don't even know about because it's ridiculous.)

I mostly relied on tetrises and T-spin doubles. Tbh I also never use 4-wide, I only use quick combo strings when improvising / downstacking, not big setups. But that's because I personally dislike combos in versus much more than T-spins (if 4-wide is as overpowered as it was in past games, IDK).

Thinking I might get into this + play with people on here when my Switch comes back from repairs in a day or so, I look forward to getting killed by s1x in this lol

900 event points so far. I'm a bit afraid that people putting in tons of volume is going to matter more, since it's possible to lose early but still get max points from your team sticking it out

Yo, I'm now on this page of stat data someone's compiling. Some things are intuitive (more lines per game = more speed = more winning), while others are still interesting. I like how I confuse some of the best line fits.

I have now played 1000 regular matches. My winrate at the start was at around 25%, but through watching others, talking about the game more, and reviewing every little mistake I made, I am now at a bit over 55% total. Use all the tips in this thread, ask questions, and practice, and I know any of you could potentially outpuzzle me. I am merely a mortal. Meanwhile, I'm going to see how my next 1000 games go.

Also this game is still great

The actual Ring Fit Adventure sounds like not a bad thing to do during these times, but since I don't have it, this event is the next best thing

That picture, for the visually impaired: Tetris Smash Crossing.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
